Hassan Christopher

Always on the cutting edge of the creative process Hassan Christopher is one of today’s most respected and sought after dance artists.  Raised on the pulse of the Chicago House scene before venturing to study in the modern dance mecca of New York and then on to the commercial hot bed of Los Angeles Hassan has built a reputation as a creative trailblazer. He is the first ever recipient of the Lester Horton Innovator award and winner of an NACCP award for best stage choreography. He also earned an Ovation award nomination for best choreography and direction of a musical. In the press his work has been praised as “hair raising”, “genius” and “electric”.  Some of his past commercial credits include Gap, Pepsi, Britney Spears, Shakira and Usher in addition to choreographing for TVOTR and the Comedy Central Network on series like David Alan Grier’s Chocolate News. In the concert dance arena Hassan has toured with internationally acclaimed Diavolo Dance theater and performed with such notable artists as David Rousseve and RGWW. He has over a decade of experience teaching locally and abroad at leading dance studios and universities including CALARTS, UCLA and the EDGE. From Hip Hop to Modern and Contemporary he is known for his inspired and passionate teaching style helping beginners and advance students alike achieve their next level of performance.  Currently he is excited about the development of his upstart ROGUE Movement Group in addition to working as co-founder of RGM's sister project RIACT (an artivist network dedicated to using the arts as activism to raise awareness and resources in support of individuals and organizations working to solve some of today's most pressing challenges.) www.riact.org
